Roots drummer Ahmir “?uestlove” Thompson served as the musical director for the impromptu 2004 “Block Party” concert organized by comedian Dave Chappelle in Brooklyn, N.Y., so it’s only fitting that he’s presently mixing audio highlights for a soundtrack album.

The Michel Gondry-directed “Dave Chapelle’s Block Party” opens March 3 in U.S. theaters; the album is due March 14 via Geffen.
