The other release was ripped and/or encoded improperly. It seems they only took
one channel from the DVD and used it for both left and right channels or messed
up normalization, as there is no stereo seperation. This means the other release
has no stereo sound, just stereo for mono. Compare other_release.jpg and
our_release.jpg. Some people might think that the sample rate of 48 KHz might
cause such a jump in bitrate in our release, but we did a quick encode @ 44.1
KHz for a proper controlled comparison and dispell any doubt. There was still
stereo sound and higher bitrates than the other release. We don't like to
downsample our releases, btw. Helps keep quality at its highest =]. FYI, the low
bitrate caused in the other release part of Joint Stereo encoding. Specifically,
M/S stereo encoding. Basically what happens in this mode is if there is no
stereo sound seperation, the LAME with encode both channels as one channel, which
will lower the bitrates, since there is only one channel taken into account. When
the MP3 is played back, the decoder will expand the single channel signal into 2
seperate channels. It is an accurate representation of the original signal since
there was little, if any, sound seperation. Assuming the other release was sourced
from a PAL DVD, I doubt that the audio mastering would vary between the video
standards. In any case, Enjoy! The 1st track is killer. Your man 'Loso on the
track!

In unrelated news, we support many of the points in the MP3 Rebuttal with some
few additions:

1. Dirfixing should not be entirely banned. It serves it purpose for fixing
mislabeled/missing source or other dirtags and a dirfix to internal (there
should be clarity on if/when that's allowed as well). What about those ID3
Fixes/Patches I've been seeing lately? How should they be regulated?
2. Where on Earth are the rules for foreign language releases? What if a release
has mixed English and foreign languages?
3. There doesn't seem to be a rule about what info is required in an .nfo. Does
this mean releases without a tracklisting in the .nfo are OK, even though
inconvenient?
4. If you noticed, we didn't include bonus here in the title because it seems
(Bonus_DVD) might get you nuked for
"opening.and.closing.character.must.be.the.same." (Bonus_DVD) doesn't look
right according to that, even though I don't see such rule in the ruleset?
Anyway I couldn't think of a neat way to tag Bonus in, and since there doesn't
seem to be a rule for that either, we just left it out. Anyway, the -DVD-
should make it clear it was sourced from a Music DVD of the same name.

Yeah, the MP3 scene could be better. I've noticed there has been lots of
re-encoding and source stealing lately =[. Let's take these fakers to the
cleaners.
